Theatre is Dead!
Theatre is Dead is a show which is developing by accident, on-the-sly almost. With a spare afternoon in the studio, two long nosed characters emerged, only to find out that theatre was dead, and thus their very existence on stage was called into doubt.
We work on this show when we have spare time!
We work on this show when we have spare time!
How did it die? What happened? It was healthy,
happy and wealthy in its worldly way,
laughing and puking up and never weary –
fat, thin, glad, mad, odd, funny-looking monster,
arrogant, humble, false, true, strange and normal
everywhere ancient current pig-bird, dog-rabbit,
dangerous lush pre-fabricated landscape
of underwater skyscrapers, sand jungle,
for expeditions into bleak interiors,
fleecing the psyche, hypnotising childminders
with Christmas cracker magic, right through February,
taking and taking, in return for – phantoms
to gibber in the public mind. Dead! Why???
And can we live without it, you and I?
